Troubleshooting: Error messages with missing .dll files

You try to install Audials and an error message is displayed, that for example MSVCP140.dll is missing.

Missing .dll files that can be fix with the following instructions:

• msvcp140.dll
• vcruntime140.dll
• mfc140u.dll
• api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll
• and others

The .dll file is one of the runtime components of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable software for Visual Studio. It is required to run C++ applications.

Step by Step: Installing the missing .dll file

1. Open Control Panel, then Programs and Uninstall a program.
2. Search Microsoft Visual C++2015... in the list and select it.
3. On the top of the window appears Organise, Uninstall and Change, choose Change.
4. A new window is displayed, click Repair.
5. Restart your PC and try again with Audials.
6. If the issue still persists uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 from Control Panel.
7. Restart your PC.
8. Download the latest package for Microsoft Visual C++ (Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022) and install it:

9. Restart your PC and try again to install Audials.

Results

The missing .dll file is installed and Audials doesn't show the error message anymore.
