Missing frames
I'm starting to get alerts of 'missing frames' on some recordings, especially Paramount+. Below is a snapshot showing missing frames 13.88. Is that how many frames are missing? I'm trying to understand the error and why it is happening now.
-
Since I didn't get an answer so I contacted Support directly. They told me that it was likely high CPU usage or my anti virus. I turned off my anti virus and watched the CPU usage, still got the error. It seems like anything over 30 minutes I get the error. I recorded a number of shows at 30 minutes and it turned out fine. Then I tried a one hour recording, got the error every time.

I've got an update. I'm not sure if this is coincidence or not. The last couple weeks I've been waiting for parts to build my new PC so I've not even bothered with Audials. Yesterday my new PC is up and operating. When I went into Audials I noticed an update and proceeded to install. After the update I did a test and recorded a video and no issues popped up. I'm not sure if the update fixed the problem or my new PC, I lean towards the later because I have a much faster processor, more RAM and now a SSD.
I've since recorded 2 full movies and no issues.
-
Me again, another update. I've been using Audials for about a week now with my new PC and I'm starting to see missing frame errors again. It seems like anything under and hour is fine, when I do movies its about a 50/50 chance it will have missing frames. Example, I've tried to record The Pink Panther (1964) moive 3 times, so far no success. My last attempt shows a whopping 9285.6 missing frames (see below).
I've contacted the support group via email again. I would encourange anyone else to do as well. Hopefully they can find a fix because this is becoming pointless.

Hello,
I too am unfortunately having problems with my recordings.
I just bought Audials 2023 about 1 week ago.
For me it doesn't matter if it's recording something under 30 minutes or over 1 hour.
I have tried the following so far.
- record an episode at different recording speeds
- the browser as well as the internal player
- and also in different resolutionsNo matter what I try it's always a 50/50 chance I'll record something without a "missing frame error".
Disappointingly, the program doesn't show exactly where the error occurred or why it occurred. It only shows the message "Missing Frame". Unfortunately, that alone does not help at all. And since you don't know how bad the error is, you can delete the episode right away and try again.
It can't be my PC..it has massive performance!
Also my internet connection is extremely fast (1.000M/bits).I will now also report this to the support, because so brings me the whole program unfortunately nothing.
If no solution is found, I will have my money refunded and rather try other programs. It can't be that difficult to simply record various things. If someone has further ideas and tips, gladly times here announce.
Kind regards -
I did some troubleshooting yesterday and noticed one thing in common, and I'm not sure if its coincidence or not, but this happens when I use FireFox as the browser for recording. Is this the same for everyone?
I use FireFox because the other browers (Edge and Chrome) don't work well, I'm guessing because of the 'sandbox' issue. Also, I noticed that for some reason the internal Audials browers records at a smaller resolution. Example, as part of my troubleshooting I recorded a movie using FireFox (this was the 4th attempt to record with no errors using FireFox). That recorded at 1920x1080, but had missing frames. Then I recorded the same movie using the internal browser and that records at 1024x576. The internal browser recorded with no errors.
Has anyone else noticed if any specific browers is causing this issue? Also, any ideas why the different resolutions?

@AeroxTuner I've used Audials now for about 4 years and generally it has worked great. Every once in awhile an update will be pushed and something goes wrong, but then its quickly resolved. This missing frames issue is new, I've never seen it before and when I contacted them about this about 4 weeks ago, they said it must be my anti virus or some other software interupting it. No matter what I do it still happens.
The support group will most likely as you to send a log that is in Audials in order to see what is happening and why.

Ok, that reassures me a bit when you say that you've been using it for about 4 years and everything else works pretty well.
That there is a bug here and there, is also okay and can happen, as long as this is also fixed again. It would be great if the support here would leave a message that you have read this here and are working on a solution.I can tell you it is NOT due to an antivirus program. My PC recently got a completely new and clean Windows 10 Pro. I completely reset my PC and hard drives 1 time per year. I do not have an antivirus program and only use Windows' own Microsoft Defender. Furthermore, I have hardly installed any programs so far, which means it is very unlikely that the problem is due to my PC.
By the way, it is recorded on an M.2 SSD.As written before, it can't be due to my PC or internet.
When I record something in Audials, my PC gets completely bored.... I have a maximum load of 9 - 15%.My goal was to record movies & series in 4K with Audials 2023. Unfortunately, I quickly discovered that Audials 2023 can only record in 1920x1080 at most. For movies/series that only have this resolution anyway, that's fine. For 4K and higher, unfortunately, I'll have to come up with something else.
Anything below 1920x1080 is absolutely out of the question for me.I tried again earlier to record something in 1920x1080. And again, it only worked 50% of the time. It recorded one episode "without a problem" and the very next one had AGAIN "missing frames". So disappointingly again an episode you can delete right away and have to record again hoping not to get any errors. Thus, the whole takes forever until you have for example 1 series completely.
I hope that the support will get back to us and find the cause.
PS.: is anyone here German ?Here is a screenshot. Out of 5 images, 3 are faulty.

Of course you can ask me, it's not a problem :-)
I record the streaming services in the following quality...:
Youtube -> 3840 x 2160p
Netflix -> 1920 x 1080p
Amazon Video -> 1920 x 1080p
RTL+/TVNOW -> 1920 x 1080p
Disney+ -> 1080 x 720pThe fact that I can actually record Youtube in 4K is something I also didn't realize until after the fact...Unfortunately, it doesn't work for the other streaming services. But with Youtube you don't need to record because you can download these videos with a tool (JDonwnloader 2) also simply so in desired quality. Disney + seems to be the only exception at the moment, which only records to 1080x720p. I can't say anything about the other streaming services since I don't use them. It's enough for me when finally this stupid error with "missing frame" is found. This sucks tremendously !!
In the screenshot it says "Clipfish" which is an error of Audials (another one) that should be "RTL+ or TVNOW".
-
I think I have recorded that high in Amazon, when its been a newer movie. I'll have to test that out.
Today I did a number of recordings because the support group asked to replicate the issue and send over the log. It looked like it wasn't going to happen because the first 2 movies recorded perfectly, but then the next two had missing frames. I've sent over the logs and screenshots, hoping they will figure this out.
-
Yes, the support had also asked me to keep a log and make various settings.
But so far I did not have the time and also not the great desire to have to tinker now, so that possibly the program works.
Have just seen that there is an update in the program.
Will now install and test again everything in the hope that it now finally works.
Otherwise, there is further feedback from me here. -
Of course not, because there's no fix released yet. Why don't you read the release notes!?
https://support.audials.com/hc/en-us/sections/115000239909-Release-notes
Just wait for a fix before complaining again...I know it's a main feature and the software is still way too buggy, but there are real people developing that sh*t and I don't think they can do magic either.
I am also annoyed and angry, but you should be fair and at least give them a chance to keep their promises.
So just be patient and wait at least this week. Hopefully the announced bugfix will then be available. -
Sure. Some basics in advance: "Release Notes" tell you which fixes have been released. They don't tell you stuff that has NOT been released yet, because it's not a "not-released-yet notes". So if there are no release notes that include sth. like "missing frames error has been fixed", it has obviously not been fixed yet. Simple like that.
On the other way round: If you say "I did update the software and it still doesn't work", it would be clever to read the release notes in advance to make sure the problem you want to be fixed, has been fixed. Otherwise, you will be annoyed for nothing.
Btw: there's indeed a list that tells you about stuff that's known, but (partially) not fixed yet:
https://support.audials.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408837462802-Current-Audio-Video-Recording-Issues
BUT: the list is obviously maintained manually and from my experience it will never be up to date and probably many problems do not even end up on the list. either because they are "too small" or because the corresponding employee does not make sure that it ends up on the list.
Conclusion: release notes should be the/our source of truth. -
Hello to everyone,
Audials 2023.0.182.0 has been released and includes a fix for missing frames issue. Install the latest updated version number from https://audials.com/en/download and give feedback. -
Hello all,
I have made a few tests that I would like to share with you, maybe someone or even better the support can do something with it. I will now describe to you exactly my steps and observations...:
First of all, I completely uninstalled my Audials 2023 and downloaded the whole new version mentioned here by Andreea to really use the latest version. (( https://audials.com/en/download ))
Settings: I changed almost nothing except:
1. ads should be detected, but not deleted independently
2. all video files will be saved in MPEG4 and audio in WMA
(The system load is the load shown by the program not by the task manager).
(I would be happy to hear tips & tricks for very good quality from you)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now to my test and observations: (see also screenshot)

Recording speed: Speed x2
System load: 8% - 12%
Result: ERROR - The video file was recorded completely, but has "Missing Frames" again. In addition there is the error message "23 seconds of the video have dropouts or jumps due to performance problems". - Yes no is clear with a load of ~ 10%.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test 2
Film/Series: Vikings
Provider: Netflix
Stream/Player: internal player

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test 4
Film/Series: Medical Detectives

Stream/Player: internal player
Resolution: 1920x1080
Recording speed: Speed x2
System load: 19% - 26%
Result: ERROR FREE recorded !!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test 5
Movie/Series: Two an a Half Men
Provider: Amazon Prime Video
Stream/Player: internal player
Resolution: 1920x1080
Recording speed: Speed x2
System load: 15% - 19%
Result: ERROR - video was only recorded in 1280x720 and simply stopped after 6:15 minutes. Reason unknown.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------Test 6
Film/Series: Two an a Half Men (try 2)
Provider: Amazon Prime Video
Stream/Player: internal player
resolution: 1920x1080
Recording speed: Speed x2
System load: unknown
Result: ERROR - video was again only recorded in 1280x720 and after is immediately aborted. Reason also unknown.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test 7
Movie/Series: Two an a Half Men (try 3)
Provider: Amazon Prime Video
Stream/Player: internal player

Provider: YouTube
Stream/Player: Edge Browser
Resolution: 3840x2160
Recording speed: Not selectable
System load: unknown
Result: ERROR FREE "Recorded" with correct resolution and with title. Where here it looks more like a download of the video instead of a real recording.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test 9
Movie/Series: Family Guy (try 2)
Provider: Disney +
Stream/Player: Edge Browser
Resolution: (1920x1080) -> 1280x720
Recording speed: Speed x2
System load: 7% - 12%
Result: Suddenly recorded ERROR FREE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test 10
Movie/Series: Family Guy (try 3)
Provider: Disney +
Stream/Player: internal player
resolution: (1920x1080) -> 1280x720
Recording speed: Speed x2
System load: 8% - 12%
Result: Suddenly recorded ERROR FREE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Conclusion: Except for the 3 "unknown errors", things went a bit better today. Still, I think this was just a coincidence and the "missing frames" problem is not fixed yet and it really needs more updates.
Also, my test was a short snapshot and not a long term test.
I'll give the PC a run with recordings over the next few days and then see if it continues to cause problems.
Other than that, I hope this post was interesting or helpful to one or the other, and with luck, somewhat useful to support.
As for me, I'll keep watching this and keep testing and hope that the existing bugs as well as future bugs are fixed as soon as possible. Otherwise I will withdraw from my purchase at the end of next week and request a refund.
The program is of no use to me if it has errors or bugs exactly there, which are absolutely necessary to guarantee a smooth running of the recordings. Thus exactly the part of the program does not function, for which at all the program was made.If you want me to do more tests like this or if you want more information, please give me feedback. I will then see what I can do.
Kind regards to the roundAeroxTuner :-)

Hello,
The same is the case with me. The resolution of 1920x1080 is never reached. And also otherwise constantly problems with recordings. So far I do not have a single recording ready on HDD. And the internal player does not do what it should. What is recorded can only be exported to VLC to view it. Thus, the cut editor is also not to use. Strange to distribute such a faulty software. If this does not improve in the next few days, I will make use of the 14 day right of withdrawal...sorry.
