Tag & Cover Quality in Audials 2022
Hi community,
This is pretty much my first post. However, I've used the program for a long time now. So, throughout the updates and upgrades, I've seen the highs and lows and what could improve in it. Tag and covers could definitely be better!
Issues...
SMALL COVERS SIZE
I use a competitive app (which I won't mention here) and that particular app does a much better job at pulling tags and better covers. Audials currently is pulling covers from Spoti at the max 300. Whereas the competition pulls them at the standard 640.
TAGS FORMAT (at Spoti)
Currently, due to how Spoti labels track to give features and remixers credits, they tend to label songs by adding the remixers name to the actual "Artist" tag and also in parentheses or separated by a dash in the "Title" tag. So, often a track would be tagged as follows in Audials: Camila Cabello, Major Lazer - Don't Go Yet - Major Lazer Remix
Notice how R3HAB is mentioned twice?
So, imagine having to go through and clean 100's of tracks after downloading (which I have to); It's a bummer and extra hours of cleaning tags all the time. However, the competitive app, on the other hand, manages to tag the same track (and all other tracks where the name doubles) as follows: Camila Cabello - Don't Go Yet - Major Lazer Remix
YEAR TAGS MISSING
"Year" tags are somehow missing 90% of the time. Again, the ordeal of going back to Spoti or using MusicBrainz to look up the year adds extra time to cleaning.
ACCENT CHARACTERS ISSUE:
Accents are coming off weird in Audials. Again, that doesn't happen on the competitive app. An example is Tiësto. In Audials, in the "Album" tag, it would come out as Tiësto. And that's for every other artist or song's name with accents like ó, ò, ñ, etc...
Now, I wish that Audials had Auto tagging (by integrating MusicBrainz, I guess) but that's a wish that may never come true. What could come true though is Audials improving and fix how the app pulls the data from the streaming platforms, mainly Spoti in my case.
Thanks!
