gpu and cpu are not at 100%.

I'm getting ready to test this out too. What profile is everyone using to record 5.1 audio? I just tried using the default, expecting the original video with 5.1 would be recorded, but it only recorded in stereo.

5.1 audio worked for me only with the surround profiles. Chosse one of them and recorded files should have 6 channels. But (in my case) the sound quality gets extremly weird and bad - no matter which profile is used.

How can I find out if a Netflix video has Sourround or not? It would be good if Audials could detect and set this automatically.

Easiest way to find out is to open Netflix in the desktop app and if a video has 5.1, it is shown below the titel of the movie/show. Alternatively you see it in  the language selection menu of the video: if 5.1 is available there should be listed "English - 5.1". Of course you could do the same in the Audials internal browser - but (in my case) the language selection menu is buggy so that the 5.1 options are out of window.

How can I record the original bitrate that Netflix outputs? CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+D shows me approx. 6500 kbit/s. Audials only records at around 1500 kbit/s when I set the original format. If I set the highest quality it records in 17 MB/s, which is far too much.

I just tested it out recording "The Spooky Tale of Captain Underpants Hack-a-ween" and I don't get any sound in the surround sound channels. It says it recorded in 5.1, but there's no sound in those channels. I'll try another movie and see if there's any difference.

daschues What movie/show did you try?

I took another look at the shows in Netflix and now none of them are showing up with 5.1. Maybe my basic plan doesn't include 5.1, although I'm certain it did before I recorded the last movie.

Based on this post in Netflix help, there's no way to record 5.1 sound.

"5.1 surround sound is not currently supported while streaming on a computer using Microsoft Silverlight or HTML5. However, it is supported in the Netflix app for Windows 8 and Windows 10."

@... How exactly are we supposed to record 5.1 audio?

    Hi mbarylski

5.1 surround sound  should work with netflix. You can find more informations here:

@... Did you read what I posted from the Netflix site? There's no way for it to work in a modern browser and the internal browser is just a modern browser. It's rendering the Netflix site using HTML5 which, as stated by Netflix, is not configured to output 5.1.

It just doesn't work. Please pass this on to the devs and let us know their response.

    Hey!

I found a reliable way to rip Netflix Streams in high bitrate 1080p and with 5.1 Surround Sound.

I use the Google Chrome Expansion "Netflix 1080p" and set the options to force high bitrate and 5.1 Surround.

Next I deactivated the 5.1 and 1080p option in Audials (It will still record at 1080p and with 5.1 if your Profile Supports it)

The stream won't load if you don't do it this way. (Make sure that you chose a profile which is 5.1 capable.)

Here are some screenshots (they are in german, I hope that won't be a problem):

    Here is my custom profile:

    Some tips:

Don't record in Highspeed (just not reliable enough I got speedups, missing sound and stuff like that)

Use your graphics card if possible!

If you record a show or movie without 5.1 sound change your profile to a stereo profile

Now that makes sense! Thanks TRKarimman! Audials really shouldn't be advertising this feature if it requires an extension IMO, but it is cool that it works WITH the extension. :)

For me this still isn't working. I tried as advertised with the internal player and couldn't even get 1080p. With the described method from TRKarimman (thanks for that) at least 1080p was possible but the audiostream was still stereo. The Netflix player in chrome was showing 5.1 was available - but only in one language - not the original language i wanted.

Support ist just sending me links to descriptions that wont work - no expertise there. Finally they stopped answering at all.

In my opinion this is a case of false advertising.

It's definetly false advertising, because it doesn't work with only using the program.

nomad832 TRKarimman Agree. Definitely false advertising. It isn't technically possible for Netflix to stream 5.1 in the browser. Audials could potentially make it happen with their internal browser using the plug-in.

@... Can you please provide an update on this issue? I believe we've sufficiently proven that 5.1 surround is not possible in Netflix. What's the response from the devs?

Try to create a new video output profile with stereo sound and try again. It should work..., if not , please contact audials support by email : support@audials.com

@... Perhaps you didn't get a chance to read through our comments. 5.1 is technically not possible.

Please read this statement from Netflix again ("5.1 surround sound is not currently supported while streaming on a computer using Microsoft Silverlight or HTML5. However, it is supported in the Netflix app for Windows 8 and Windows 10.")

Can you please ask the devs to respond and explain?

So I am back again with some Information. I don't know why I didn't realised it earlier, but mbarylski is right. The maximum quality of a HTML Stream is Stereo 192 kbps. That means you dont need to check the 5.1 option in the browser extension. Therefore you need to edit your profile and set it to stereo to avoid any problems.

You seem to be ignoring us regarding this topic Denisa. It doesn't work and it isn't technically possible. Why is Audials still telling users that it works? It doesn't. If you think it's supposed to work then please explain to us how it's possible.

Please check the article and you will see that you also have to change the output format in audials to can record 5.1.

If you selected the right profile and also enabled the 5.1 recording and it still does not work, please contact us by email and provide us log files.

    Thank you !

We've already told you repeatedly that it doesn't work and we've set the correct output profile. It doesn't record in 5.1. Please explain how you think it's possible when it's technically not feasible.

The best way to check why it does not work is to send us log files by email. Our developers will investigate this. Our Email adress is.: support@audials.com

    Thank you for understanding !
