Netflix Recording; Low Quality Audio and No 5.1 though Selected
Hello,
I am running into a situation where recording from Netflix had started giving me very low audio quality and no surround sound (5.1) even though it is selected in browser and plays at high quality and 5.1 while recording. I have never been able to record in 5.1 (I'm somewhat new to Audials, but have a long understanding of OS's and hardware/software), but the audio quality in stereo was of high quality a few weeks ago. Now, it sounds like an old transistor radio. I've tried it in both Firefox and Chrome with the extension for 5.1 and 1080p. Video looks great - audio is terrible. I've tried H.264 w/surround at its highest quality as well as H.265 w/surr, both at 24fps and 30fps (though 24fps on the most recent attempts). Any advice on my settings would be most appreciated. Playback is via VLC with output set to DirectX Audio Output, forcing Dolby Surround if available.
Is the issue in its recording of content (only recording the stereo channels while 5.1 is being broadcast from Netflix), or the formatting? Thank you for any suggestions!

Hello numbertwentey,
as Neftlix doesn't play 5.1 sound in the browser you cannot record it like that.
This feature will be available in the future. Unfortunately we can't tell exactly when exactly it'll be available.

I'm not angry, but I'll be honest - I feel a bit cheated. To offer "Top Quality" recordings and not being able to deliver.
Is this an issue with Netflix creating an environment one step ahead of Audials? Constantly changing to be ahead of what it can do? It makes more sense to me why the big point of "getting constant updates for a version".
Is there any recording situation where Audials will be able to record in 5.1 currently? Beyond Netflix - just curious how to test it.
I am still receiving poor audio quality from Netflix, but I will try encoding in a lesser format to see differences.
Thanks for your help

Hi Alex,
I'm wondering if this is something else now. When I first posted, I had mentioned that in the past things were fine with stereo, but now it's terrible. At this point it looks like the DRM from Netflix essentially stops Audials from recording. It basically breaks my browser whenever Audials is open. I can't click links or set up recording. Is there any information regarding this and/or a way around it?
