Spotify Suspended with Audials One Normal Speed Record
Be aware that Spotify is now suspending accounts of those that use Audials to record at normal speed. This used to only happen when recording at higher speeds than 1x. Numerous users have confirmed this issue and Audials support has been made aware.

Not familiar with sub accounts. Do you mean sign up for premium duo or premium family which allows mutiple people (different emails) to share one subscription and a single payment? I see there is a Spotify free account option however it appears to have advertisements and only support shuffle play. It also significantly limits the quality of streams. For example, no ability to stream at 320kbps. You're limited to 128kbps.
If this is a viable option, I'd expect Audials support to recommend it at some point.

Thanks for the update and quick reply. I'll be sure to keep an eye on this thread. Looking for the same issue. Bumped into your thread. Thanks for creating it. Looking forward for solution.

Hello,
Audials offers a wide range of options for recording any music streaming service. This also includes the ability to record from Spotify. Various recording methods are possible:
- Passive recording
The streaming service is used "as is" and is being recorded in the background.
(This is indistinguishable from playing on the streaming service's server).- Optimized recording
The streaming service is "accelerated" and/or "remote controlled" and recorded.
(Of course, this can be seen on the server of the streaming service)In the past - especially in 2021 - there have been cases where Spotify temporarily banned users for using "detectable" recording methods (2).
The Audials software is able to "warn" about data indicating the recording being created on the streaming provider's servers.
August 2022
We have received individual reports from a few users that they have been temporarily blocked on Spotify, although they have only recorded passively (1). We even have individual reports from users who didn't use any Audials software and didn't record, but the same thing happened to them anyway.
So we did some technical research.
It looks like that Spotify has built a new component into the Spotify software that examines the computer's "audio output" (and possibly other aspects of the system, we don't know) and reports the results back to Spotify. It might detect that the computer is "ready to record" while the Spotify app is running and this might lead to the account bans.
(By the way, this "ready to record" could also be detected when using other software that "accesses the system audio" - such as video conferencing, but that is pure speculation).
To be on the safe side, we have therefore decided to switch on the "Privacy & data protection" warning in the Audials software for all recordings from the Spotify software.
Workaround: Recording from website
Possible problems resulting from the Spotify software examining the system and reporting this to Spotify could be avoided by using e.g. recording from the Spotify website.
The website "lives" only in the browser and therefore, as far as we know, does not have the ability to examine the computer and its audio system.
To do this, select "Record while playing" in Audials 2022, but immediately close the Spotify software that may open and open a web browser via Audials instead, and play Spotify there on its website.
In upcoming versions, we will improve the website recording for Spotify.

Same thing happened to me and I have not been recording streams since my first suspension last year , in fact I hardly use Spotify now but it is always handy to have for late night listening, I like the gapless streaming feature which not all the rivals have. I got in touch with customer support and I'm good to go until I get banned again no doubt !!

My account was banned from Spotify this week. A family member had been recording using the single song, not the multiple songs feature. When I saw this, I contacted Spotify, admitted what was done, siad it would not happen again, and they restored my account. I was a lifelong user of Napster, but they had a period of about a month, where the system was so unstable, that I decided to give Spotify a try. I manually created my MV Playists, and was pretty happy with the service. I totally freaked when this happened. I quickly signed up for Napster again with a 30 day free trial with a different email address, before knowing if my account would be restored, but Napster totally changed their interface. It is now so similar to Spotify that I am going to cancel the Napster Trial account and stick with Spotify. I believe that the Recording Industry is really pushing these services to stop digital recording. And if they were to decide to make examples out of some folks, that could cause some serious financial damage. I told my family member no more recording of anything from any source where the terms of service prohibit the recording. I have thousands of Vinyl and CDs that I purchased and continue to do so legally, and I record a backup copy, which I believe is allowed by law. Most come with digital downloads anyway. But I'm not allowing recording from my account, or computer any more. After spending my career as an app developer, I know that every service can tell exactly what you are doing, when you do it, and can store that info on their servers. For me, it's just not worth the risk. If I like it and want it, I buy it. I use Audials to record video events that I am not able to attend because of disance and covid, such as grand kids graduations, holidays and birthday parties, plus my legal copies. That's it. No more recording of streaming service music in this house.

@Punk4Life. Just choose spotify on audials then after you start the record button, click on the edge or chrome link to open spotify through a browser. A command line "no sandbox" should pop up which means you can record now. I deleted the spotify apps off my laptop since I'm not using it anymore.

Hi,
for the second time in the past few months my Spotify Premium account has been suspended because they suspect that I have been “recording tracks for use outside of their server”.Are they allowed to do this?
Is using Audials to record music legal?
Is there any way Audials can be modified or anything I can do in the way I use Audials that can prevent them from tracking what I am doing?Best regards,
Tom -
Fortunately, the problem can be solved relatively easily:
1) Contact Spotify support at
https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-anonymous/
2) Confirm to Spotify support that you are no longer engaging in “illegal content downloads”.
3) After that, do NOT use the "high speed" function in Audials for recordings from Spotify.
4) Do not use any other tools for Spotify, as many of them only use the high-speed function -
I used audials maybe 2 or so years ago for some music and today have received a suspention email I use Spotify regularly so I suspect as above they cab detect you have audials and perhaps it open when playing Spotify evening not recording. I am not much of a fan of it anyhow so may just remove my account.

suspention email : It just happened to me.
I never use the high speed or drag options: so they have a way of detecting recordings.
In this case Audials is useless to me now and I will not upgrade unless there is a fix? is there any new feature in Audials 2024 that help to fix/reduce this problem ?
