Audio Recording for original 320Kbps mp3 stuck at 256Kbps when conversion is set to "Keep original quality"
Not sure what I am doing wrong but when I record an mp3 that is 320 Kbps using the "Universal (MP3/MP4)" profile and MP3 set at "keep original quality" the outputted mp3 always ends up being 256 Kbps.
For example: If I record a 160 Kbps mp3 - it will upscale to 256 Kbps and a 320 Kbps mp3 will downgrade to 256 Kbps bitrate after recording.
Every song I've tried with "keep original" quality or bit rate on the profile settings ends up being 256Kbps.
How do you record audio and make Audials keep the original quality of the mp3 file?
Yes, I know you can set the profile to convert all recorded MP3s to 320 Kbps but I would like to keep the original bit rate of each song so I know which ones were really 320 Kbps to begin with.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi Lee220,
i had the same issue: are you connencted to Spotify? Then you have to keep in mind, that there is a "quality-slider" which can be found in the brown connection-tab at the bottom of the screen. Click "Options" and move the qualitiy-slider to "very high".
Afterwards you should be able to record in maximal quality.
Cheers Matthias

Thanks for the tip but I'm not recording from Spotify.
I'm trying to record audio and make Audials keep the original quality of the file using the "keep original quality" setting.
It looks like the software cannot determine the original bit rate of songs with the "keep original quality" setting so it defaults the finished recording to 256 Kbps bit rate.

I found this happening when I first used Audials back in 2016. What is worrying is if you set parameters to 320 you would expect it to record with no converting but looking at the tracks being recorded there is always a converting process. If it is already 320 why the need to convert?
