How To Adjust Recording Level (amazon music desktop software)

When I record streaming music in Audials 2022 from the amazon music windows software, the levels are way too high. When I look at the waveform through an audio editor I see (and hear) serious clipping. I've experimented by adjusting various audio properties on my Win10 pc but nothing seems to help. My system audio driver is Realtek HD. I've made sure that no effects are turned on. Can someone help?
